First, I’m a wordsmith. I love to gather information and communicate it creatively in a variety of ways. Do you like your copy straight up? Serious but lively? Humorous? Conversational? Whatever tone you choose, I’ll find the right words to convey your message. And best of all: I’ll deliver a clean piece of writing on deadline.
Second, I’m a novelist. A teller of tales. And who doesn’t love a good tale? Stories draw people in; our brains are wired for it! Successful stories are about relatable people overcoming real problems and being transformed in the process. If your service or product transforms lives, well, that makes for great copy your reader won’t toss aside.
Third, I’m intuitive. With my intuition as a guide, I’ll ask questions your audience might ask. I’ll ask questions about that audience: the harried housewife, the inner-city youngster, the middle-aged music lover, the overworked solopreneur. I’ll home in on what motivates the people you want to reach so your message answers their most important question: “What’s in it for me?” And more to the point: “How will my life get better as a result?”
Fourth, I have a background in retail. I’m familiar with what appeals to a buyer, and how to sell them on the benefits without sounding pitchy. If you’re in the market for sales materials, I can write copy that’s persuasive, but not pushy.
And last but not least, I’m Zen-like. My guess is, you want a writer who’s a breeze to work with and doesn’t get ruffled by last-minute changes—or better yet, who gets what you want from the get-go, so there won’t be any last-minute changes.
